Elk Island National Park, Alberta December 2005

Elk Island National Park is known for it's majestic stands of Birch Trees

About 515 wild Plains Bison call the Park home while another 315 wild Wood Buffalo live in the southern part of the Park
Here he is running past us... believe it or not he moved like a deer when it hops through a meadow
One of many Beaver Lodges found through out the Park; 2000 Beavers live here
I couldn't resist taking this picture of "beaver prints" in the snow close to a Beaver Dam
We found this lodge while hiking the Beaver Lodge Trail, we walked out on the ice to get a better look
Here is Duncan standing on the ice covering Lake Astotin
An island in the middle of Astotin Lake, not far from where we heard coyotes singing and saw Elk and White Tail Deer
